Approaching Accionia Energy Wind Farm
Each turbine automatically controlls
which direction it faces and the picth of the blades -- all electronically
from a wind sensor
on each turbine. The "box" from which each turbine spins contains
a gear box, the generator, and all these controlls.
Whenever the wind goes over 140mph, the turbine automatically shuts down.
NO human injuries have taken
place at this wind farm, and VERY FEW BIRD injuries. (Whenever a bird
is
injured or killed, they have to fill out 3 sheets of forms!!)
Many huge wind turbines at Accionia Energy EcoGrove Wind Farm
These wind turbines are HUGE!!
The long "box" from which each turbine spins on top of
the vertical support post is 20 feet long and 10 feet wide and high. A truck
could park inside it!
