Approaching Adkins Energy Ethanol Plant -- These 4 huge silos store corn
Unloading from the bus after a 2 and a half hour trip from Evanston
Everyone had to wear a hard hat
and goggles (if they didn't have glasses) Semi trucks (in the background)
were
constantly arriving to deliver corn. The black hose above sucks out a small
sample to test each load.
One of our guides -- the Adkins Energy Plant Manager
Adkins is almost completely self contained and the only discharge or pollution they give is a bit of water vapor from the stack at back.
Two huge tanks in which the corn is "brewed" into ethanol
