Tour to Adkins Energy Ethanol Plant and
Acciona Energy Wind Farm near
Lena, IL by
Northwestern Energy Technology Group (NETG)
on Monday, April 12, 2010

The process control building. The entire plant can be run by just 3 technitians behind computer screens! Many
sensors and process control wires run from these computer screens to the entire plant.

Whenever there is the slighest chance of grid power variation from windy or bad weather, Adkins Energy switches to it's own
independent power plant. The slighest variation in power will cause the entire plant to shut down because so much
of the process is run electronically from sensors and controls. This building contains their independent power plant.

This is the steam turbine in their own power plant

More corn arriving by truck after the end of our tour and our red hard hats are off. Of all the ethanol plants in the US
from small to medium to large, Adkins Energy is a medium sized ethanol plant
