The cage is carefully lowered into the caison

When the top horizontal circles of the bottom cage half are even with the top of the caison, the bottom cage is pinned into place with horizontal bars so the crane can be released to raise the top half of the cage. Here the bottom cage has only about 9 more feet to go before it is pined in place.

The top cage is starting its way up

The top cage is vertical

The top cage is up all the way

The top cage is directly over the caison. Now the cage makers have to wire every crossing of the horizontal circles at the bottom of the top cage to the 4 foot vertical extensions shown at the top of the bottom cage (at top of this page) to strongly connect both cages into one. Then the crane will raise it slightly so the pinning bars can be removed and lower the entire cage.

Another view from Grove and Snerman of the top cage being held in place while it is carefully being wired to the bottom cage.

The total cage is just about ready to be lowered. Note the collapsible concrete pump that has been brought in.
