Replacing CTA Viaduct at Greenleaf Street -- June 8 to 10, 2012

North pre cast concrete getting carefully lowered

The white tube allows the workers to shove it all the way through the drilled hole in the concrete to line up exactly with the vertical foundation bar below intended for it

The north pre-cast concrete is finally properly set in place

Lifting the south pre-cast concrete

Zoom shot showing how an error in cutting the old concrete retaining wall is keeping the south pre cast from going in properly

Non zoom showing all of crane and south pre cast [here a had my early supper at Subway while they had a small cat with a jack hammer cut away the retaining wall]

Crane raising one of the four -- 2 for each side -- steel joints the new viaduct will rest on into place (you can barely see the top of it here with dark trees in background)
